In 2006, Michael graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies. His first job was at Horton Middle School in Chatham County, teaching sixth and seventh grade language arts and social studies. After two years of teaching, he was given a unique opportunity to take a job with the Department of Army which took him to Afghanistan. There he set up education centers, served as a college counselor to the troops, and provided college courses on site for our service members during their down time off mission. After a year of service, he decided it was time to return to the classroom and eventually pursue his Master’s. He took a job at the Franciscan School in 2009 as a seventh grade language arts teacher and began his graduate work in school administration at North Carolina State in 2012. In the fall of 2013, he started his internship at Brier Creek Elementary. His experiences there showed him some of the ins and outs of elementary education and provided him with many learning opportunities. Finally, he finished his internship at Reedy Creek Middle School in the spring of 2014 and accepted the assistant principal position at Our Lady of Lourdes. He lives in North Raleigh with his wife, Jean and young son, Jordan Andrew Chinneck.
