Marriage Preparation

To ensure each couple is fully prepared to enter into marriage, Our Lady of Lourdes has established the following requirements:
 

1. The couple interviews with the priest or deacon (6 months from wedding date) to determine their freedom to marry (before a wedding date can be confirmed). Contact marriages@ourladyoflourdescc.org or 919-861-4600 to schedule the meeting:
   1. Freely: “No one takes [my life] from me, but I lay it down of my own accord” (John 10:18).
   2. Totally (Wholeheartedly): “He loved them to the end.” (John 13:1)
   3. Faithfully: “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20)
   4. Fruitfully: “I came that they may have life” (John 10:10)

2. The couple is required to take the Pre-Marital Inventory (Fully Engaged).  The couple is also expected to meet with the mentoring couple (3 times) to review results of the inventory. (3 - 8 months before your wedding)

3. The  couple must attend one of the recommended Marriage Preparation workshops. Copy of the program certificate is required. (3 - 8 months before your wedding)

4. Baptism Certificates, when applicable: (due in parish office 3 - 6 months before your wedding)
   1. Catholic party (Issued by parish of Baptism within 6 months of wedding with a visible seal)
   2. Non Catholic and Baptized Christian party (a copy of baptism is required)
   3. Or Testimonial Letter (form B) stating you were baptized.
5. Testimonial Letters (form B) with 2 signed witnesses (preferably your parents) for both bride and groom. (due in parish office 3 - 6 months before your wedding)

6. Sacrament of Reconciliation (before your wedding)
